Tablelands Integrated Mountain Biking Alliance (TIMBA) is a subcommitte of Tablelands Futures Corporation (TFC) the peak regional economic development body for the Atherton Tablelands. TIMBA was formed with the mission to develop the Atherton Tablelands into a world class mountain biking destination.

Over the years, funding was secured by TFC for feasibility studies and mapping to assist in securing funding for the construction of trail infrastructure.  Reports included:

  • Atherton Mountain Bike Trails Concept Plan
  • Atherton Tablelands Mountain Bike Destination report by Daffyd Davis
  • Atherton Tablelands Trail mapping

All reports are available from Tablelands Futures Corporation’s website – www.tablelandsfutures.com.

The outcome of this preliminary work was substantial investment and support by all levels of government for the construction of trails including Atherton Forest Mountain Bike Park, Davies Creek Mountain Bike Park and Atherton Rail Trail (Platypus Park to Walkamin).

To promote this trail infrastructure, in 2012 TFC developed a website and delivered various initiatives to engage with the community to better understand the opportunities in mountain bike tourism. In 2016 the website was rebuilt with updated trail information to meet the growing demand for maps and suggested routes.

The long term vision is to incorporate other trail networks including horse riding trails, hiking, quad bikes and other themed trails.

Further information on this project and the support received from Local, State and Federal government is available on the TFC website – www.tablelandsfutures.com.

Business operators who want to engage with the cycling market are encouraged to read “Cyclists Welcome” bike friendly booklet.
